Need new rubber... size ?

Been running Yokohama prada spec-x tires 305/40R-22 for the last 3 summers and not really impressed. Had some cupping issues and tires seem to be wear quick. I guess I should have rotated more often.

I think my issue is running such a large tire has its fall backs in tire wear.

Some great prices out there so I'm looking at sizes....thinking Nitto's

The Nitto's offer 3 sizes..
Same size Im now running 305/40R/22 are $192.00 each
or there's the 285/45/22 at $212.00 each
or the 285/40/22 at $218.00 each

Looking at getting into the Nitto NT 420S and going with a 285/45 22 just to keep things a bit smaller and a bit more sidewall.

Does anyone have any feedback to offer on the Nitto NT 420S and size ??

Honestly, an issue with alignment or suspension that would cause irregular treadwear are probably increased some by a wider tire. I've run 305/45-22's on our Expy since 2005 with no problems. I just try to keep an eye on them constantly for any issues. I don't think you will see enough difference in wear patterns between a 285mm and a 305mm wide tire to make any difference. Also, cupping is usually an issue with the vehicle (alignment, worn shocks, steering components) or improper balancing of the tire.

I guess I would have to agree with you but I never felt an issue with the alignment being off and since the truck was farily new I did'nt think any of the steering components were off. Im now thinking the wheels were out of balance and I waited to long on rotating them.

How often do you rotate your wheels ??
