Final opinions/suggestions before ordering
Hey guys,
I'm finally about to pull the trigger on some new wheels and tires but I just needed some final suggestions or opinions before I spend a lot of money.
After looking at countless wheels and tires for many months I think I finally have it narrowed down. I'm going with the 17x9 Mickey Thompson Sidebiters which I believe are 5" backspace / -1mm offset but several websites have them listed as 5.5" backspace / +12mm offset. Either way I'm set on getting a set of BFG KM2's because I think they best looking & longest tread life mud tire on the market. The only thing I'm not positive on is the size of tire to go with. I've been back and forth between 285/75R17 or 305/70R17. As far as tire specs go they are pretty similar.
285/75R17 - 33.9"x11.3" on 8" wheel
305/70R17 - 33.9"x12.2" on 9" wheel
Does a narrower tire make the tire measurement more narrow or doesn't that make a difference?
I should be placing my orders tomorrow evening and any opinions or suggestions are welcome!

Essentially the tires are the same height, the 305 is wider but has a lower Aspect ratio than the 285 the 70 and 75 tell you how tall the tire is in relationship to the width. 75% of 285 or 70% of 305. Go with which ever on you want to rock or which ever one is cheaper.
Thanks PawPaw! I give you little credit on helping me decide on a tire size. I think it will fill the wheel wells nicely!
I have always liked those wheels, did you ever figure out what the backspacing is on them? Should look great.

I emailed M/T and the tech guy told me they are actually 5" BS / 0mm offset. Which is the same specs as the XD Rockstars. My setup should look like very similar to abarkerr2's.
Tires should be here tomorrow, wheels are a few days behind.
