Solid rotors vs drilled and slotted.
Not a lot of difference and the drilled only do anything for you under extreme conditions, such as racing. The holes allow gases to escape during extreme heat. On the negative side, the holes tend to eat up pads a lot quicker. About the only reason I can see, other than just to say you have them, to have the drilled and slotted is if you do a lot of mountain towing and need severe braking condition equipment, or if you have a sports car in competition.
Go with a high quality semi-metallic pad such as Wagner Thermoquiet and you will have great brakes.

Isn't my thread, but had a question about the drilled and slotted rotors out of pure curiosity. I am one of the brake guys at my dad's shop and now that I think about it, I haven't seen the drilled/slotted rotors or any of the cars I've worked on (not to say one of the other guys hasn't seen some come in). Can the rotors that are drilled/slotted be machined?
