Tires on my 98
Tires on my 98
Hey guys I have 2wd 1998 F150 that I am putting a 3" lift on and have decided to go with 285x75x16 tires that I want mounted on the stock rims. I have been looking around and have found a few sets that I like.
I would like to stay around the 1k mark for all 4 tires.
Was considering Falken rocky mountain tires but after reading the reviews feel a lil shaky on ordering those.
I am now looking at:
Interco SSR radials
BFGoodwrench All Terrain KOs
and
Goodyear Duratracs
Any input is welcomed on recommendations on these tires or others that I may not know about.
Thanks

You got a wide range of tires Interco SSR radials are a mud tire, duratracs are a mix between a at and mud and than you got a at tire. What exactly are you looking to get. I have some expeience with the bfg at's and would never get them again they were just no good for my application they seemed to chunk out alot and wore down really fast... If its more city than off road and you want the off road look get the duratracs they seem to get good reviews. The Interco SSR radials will wear down faster than the others be louder and ride rougher... A lot of people here have those trail grapplers and they really like them so those may be something that you could look at too. I got mickey thompson mtz and cant say anything bad about them they are great.
BFG at/kos are really popular because they last a long time. I haven't ever had them so I can't say how good the traction is, if your just looking for a little lift and some a/t tires just for looks and a little offroading then they will be a good tire. There is also the nitto terra and trail grappler, which are both long lasting tires with good traction and not too pricey.
Just checked out the Trail grappler and have to say thats a good lookin tire!
however its listed size wise as 285x70x16RE1. Will that fit the stock ford rims?
Also whats the diff between 285x70s and 285x75s?
Sorry to be that guy but new to all this tire talk!

285/70s will fit, but thats around a 31" tall tire, so it will look a little small with a 3" lift. The difference in a 285/70 and a 285/75 is the 285/75 is about an inch taller. But, they do make the nitto terra grappler in sizes around 33"-34" tall which will look better with the 3" lift. It is not as aggressive as the trail grappler, but it looks great, lasts long, and has good traction.
