315/70/17 bfgs on 04 4.6l w/2.5 in level?

Hey guys I was wondering if the 315/70/17 bfg all terrains would be ok to run on my 04 4.6l super crew or if they would be too much for the engine. If they are should i go with the 305/65/17s or 285/70/17s?

Depends on what gears u have and do u tow or do lots of off roading? If u have 3.55 gears I would say that is too much tire. If u have the 3.73 and take it fairly easy of ur truck u may be okay. It will obviously be harder on ur transmission and drivetrain. I have 06 5.4 with the 3.55s and 285/70/17 and it does okay with them. If I go any larger I will probably regear as I do tow a travel trailer as well.

^^ look on the sticker on the door jam, it will say axle code, transmission code, paint code, all that. then you can type that into google and find out, or there are many posts here with the list.

i have a 2003 5.4, 3.55 gears and 305/70/17 with no lift, and i can definitely tell they are on there when i take off but it isnt TOO bad..also i would recommend a programmer

295/70/17 is the option i went with (33"s). they also look nice on a leveled truck.

Thanks for all the info guys! I finally figured out i have the 3.73 non limited slip gears but i think im still leaning towards the 33's. Which of those two sizes do you think would be better?

Do you have stock wheels? And if so do you plan on keeping them stock? If you plan on running an aftermarket wheel, using 315s will severly limit your wheel selection to those that have pretty much identical width and backspacing as the stock wheels.

With 3.73s and the fact that you don't tow, and you have stock wheels, I think that 315s look better, and they will give you more ground clearance if you do decide to off road it. There are quite a few trucks on here that run a leveling kit, 315s on stock wheels and it looks nice.

Yea i do plan on keeping the wheels stock. The only thing im worried about is the truck not having enough power to get up and go with it only being a 4.6l.
