Noob truck owner... tires & level kit q
Hi guys... So until the other day I've only ever had cars and or an SUV... Decided I needed more room and utility and now I have a 2011 FX2 SuperCrew 2wd. The wheels and tires look pretty wimpy on something so big so I'd like to get something a little more filling. I'm not terribly interested in getting a huge lift though and I like the stock rims. So I was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent level kit and some tires that will fill the fender without rubbing and fit on the stock 18"-ers. Of course, some of that stuff is flexible if not possible... but as I'm kinda new to trucks, I don't know.
From what I've read so far on here, it seems like if I get a 2" or 2.5" level kit I should be able to get 305/65/18 without a problem. Is that accurate?
Thanks ahead of time for the help.

Thanks! I should have gotten it a long time ago. I have too many big weekend projects and two big dogs...
Anyway, I was thinking something like a 32-33 should be ok... but I'd rather not experiment and potentially waste money. Are there any preferred brand of levelling kit or are they pretty much all the same ?

Congrats on the truck. That size should fit and fill out the wheel wells nicely on stock rims with a level. For leveling, I'm not sure if there are Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks for your truck but many people go with them for a better ride while leveled but even more people have simple spacers like the Daystar one

Nothing against you Bigscrew but a few members with a 3" leveling kit have said their ball joints wore out extremely premature with that big of a spacer. I'm not sure if it was just circumstance but the angles of the control arms tend to look quite severe with 3". Now the OP is 2wd so he doesn't have to worry about CV angles but still just something to think about.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that every truck is different and most of the time it is recommended to stay at/under 2.5" for a level in order to get close to normal life on ball joints. That isn't to say some people will get a 3" and have no problems like you.

Ya i know. I was a little sceptical about getting the 3" because of those reasons but i figured whats another 1/2". The actuall spacer only measures like a 1/4" more than the 2.5" I figured there was gonna be premature wear on parts even with the 2.5" so i said screw it. So far so good. Now being such a new truck for the op i would do a 2" and the newer trucks dont need as big of a lift in the front to be level anyways.
