wheel spacers?

hey guys, ive got a few questions on wheel spacers, and before someone jumps on my case, YES i did search but didnt find anything that directly answers my questions. I want to try something a little different, Im gonna rhino line my stock fx4 wheels to save cash instead of buying new wheels, but want them to stick out further, im thinking about picking up a set of wheel spacers but im wondering if they are safe? ive heard bad stories on them but also heard good stories. Anyone running them with problems or anything? If anyone knows of good ones then please leave me a link.

Thanks

I have stock 18" Lariat wheels and put on 1.5" spacers about two months ago, I bought them on eBay and am very satisfied, no shimmy or other problems. Right now I have the OEM Goodyears on it, but will be getting new tires this summer so hope to get something wider then. My tires stick out to about the same as the stock Lariat fender flares at the top/widest point, maybe a bit further. I am also going to upgrade to different fender flares soon too to better match the wider stance, waiting on them to get painted now.

The real question is are you wanting to use wheel spacers or wheel adapters. A spacer is just that, a piece of alumiun with lug hole drilled through it. A whell adapter bolts to the stock hub and has its own lugs to attached the rim to. Spacers above 1/4 inch are not recommended at all. Wheel adapters have mixed reviews. Some people say they are dangerious bc of the extra tension place on your suspension. And some say that as long as they are good quality and installed correctly and maintained that they are fine. You will find a 100 responses both ways. Most will say to just get new rims with the backspacing you want to acheive the look you want. i did a ton of asking around a wile ago bc I wanted to run my stock rims with my 6" lift but I need a differnt backspacing(or wheeladapters). Ended up purchasing new rims in the end. Too many people had bad experiences for me.
