33 vs 35 mud grapplers

It's about time for some new treads so I was thinking of the mud grapplers. I do a fair amount of driving in thick mud/clay down here in Mississippi. I have a 4x4 06 with a 2.5 leveling kit. I was just wondering whether 35s will fit or not? I know there will probably be some rubbing but where and how much I'm not sure. There are many posts that say conflicting things. Please help if you've seen or have this set up

I havn't seen a lot of conflicting data on fitting 35's with just a leveling kit. THey will not fit if you use a common aftermarket wheel. They will fit with minor rubbing if you use the OEM 17 or 18 inch wheels or an almost identically speced aftermarket 8 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing.

From my understanding the 35x12.50 Mud Grapplers will NOT fit without at least a wheel spacer as the side lugs hit the UCA.

Yeah, just about all 35x12.50's will rub the control arms at full steering lock. The Mud Grapplers would be worse than most because of the aggressive tread.

Let me clarify, I am not talking about full lock, I am talking about mounting the tire. It hits the UCA where the ball joint is resulting on not being able to mount the tires. This can be resolved with a small spacer.

Where can I find one of these spacers? I'd really like to have to 35s but just not sure about changing too much.

Depends on how wide the wheel is, offset, backspacing, and how much your willing to trim. First of all, what kind of wheels do you have?

If you have oem wheels you can add a spacer, gussing 1/4 or so and get by. Others have done this so look around and see what size they are using. You do not want to use a large spacer, they are going to turn into trouble. If you have aftermarket wheels that are not almost identical to factory specs you can hang up getting 35"s without a lift.

Has this been a problem with the OEM 17 and 18 inch wheels? I'm sure a 12.50 inch wide Mud Grappler would touch the UCA/ball joint regardless if it was a 33 or 35 when mounted on the OEM 20's.

I could have sworn I have heard other members having this issue. I know with my 295 and their side lugs I do not have much space, with larger lugs and another .25" (.5 / 2) its going to be very close.

EDIT: Another clarification, I am only talking about the Mud Grapplers here, not all 35x12.50 have this issue.

I was considering a set up like this for my 09 but to me it seems it would rub and bother the heck out of me

See this is the confusion I was talking about when I first posted. I'll look around though cause someone has to have it. And I have the stock r18 wheels

You see, that was a key piece of info you left out. The OEM 17's and 18s are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing while the OEM 20's are 8.5 inches wide and have 6.5 inches of BS. This means the OEM 20's pull the tires in just a little farther than the 17's and 18's. That is why most 12.50 inch wide tires will touch the UCA/ball joint when mounted on the OEM 20's. With the OEM 17 and 18's, with a leveling kit, most 35x12.50's will only rub the control arms at full steering lock.
