Finally changed out the craptastic factory pads

I say craptastic because of the enormous amount of dust that they generate. At 40k miles, they still have about half of their life left. That's wearing really well considering how much dust that comes off of them.
Since I will most likely be purchasing new wheels and tires soon, I decided to chunk them in favor of something that creates a lot less dust. Seems like the popular concensus here now is the Wagner Thermoquiets over the Carquest Blue's so that is what I went with (found a $25 off online coupon for them at Advanced).
I actually did 2 brake jobs this afternoon. I replaced the lifetime warranty Autozone pads on my beater daily driver too. I picked up a loaner torque wrench there and had to return it and the old pads to get my $ back, so I drove the truck with the new pads across town and back to test out the dust of the new ones. I wiped the wheels down before I left and then again when I got home. I hope these things dust less when they wear in because I can't tell a whole lot of difference right now between the factory dust and the dust from the Thermoquiets. I've read on here multiple times that they create next to no dust so I have my fingers crossed that it turns out to be the case. I guess time will tell.

So, it's been a little while. What's your experience been with the Thermoquiets, Quackrstackr?

Now that they have worn in a bit, they definitely dust less than the factory pads. I can't say that they dust less than other good aftermarket pads because I do not think that they do. I have had some that you could drive for at least 3 weeks before you noticed any dust.
The braking performance of them is good and the dust level is acceptable. Not quite as good as I had hoped, but acceptable.

I had Wagner ceramic TQs on my OEM rotors, it ate the fronts to hell. Replaced all rotors with Brake Performance slotted disks and Wagner TQ semi-metallics, it barely dusts at all like the ceramics, and brakes much much better than the OEMs & ceramics. I am very happy with the semi-metallics and im sure the rotors are too.

Maint weekend, truck hit 50k miles....
Changed out the Fuel Filter, rotated the tires and changed the oil.
Added the Semi Metallic TQ's this weekend to my stock rotors ...we'll see how it works out.
Did it mainly for braking performance more than dust (but dust was really bad on the stockers so I am guessing anything would be better)

I didn't really see any performance difference between the two. I will be interested to hear your take on them.
Nice job on the calipers. After I got mine back together, I kicked myself for not taking the time to clean them up and paint them.

im debating on what to do with mine when i change the pads next week... to paint or not to paint... also thinking semi metallic TQs, oh by the way love the looks of your truck DarrenWS6

You are correct sir, but to give credit where it's due.....the Wifey was the artist on this job. I think she did the job perfect...painting the whole caliper adn bracket woudl have been like everyone else's.

I agree with ya.. I think it looks better with the bracket painted silver.
Props to her for doing something different and thinking outside the box.
