New Rims and Tires....(pics encouraged)

Since i believe i am not the only one that had to go through worrying about if a particular wheel tire combo would work or not i figured i would share the experience. Been looking for months knowing i wanted a more aggressive look for my truck and finally got what was needed (if this sounds like what you want keep reading). Gonna go through a few basics things that most people new to the world of an f150 would like to know by using the search feature in the top right hand corner.

Truck: 08 f150 screw 2wd

Leveling Kit: 2.5in Hell Bent Steel (off ebay)

Usually between 1.5-2.5 inches in order to raise the front end of the body to add extra clearance, typically bolted directly onto the factor springs and should only take a shop 1-2hrs to complete. This allows 2wd trucks to fit a wheel measuring 33x12.5 and 35x12.5 for 4wd trucks due to its added stock height. For the cost no more than $150 for labor and $70 for the kit itself. My total leveling kit cost me $280 with the alignment. Any more than that you should find a better deal.

Tires: 33x12.5x20 Nitto Mud Grapplers (discount tires)

Pros: look bad ***, sound great if you dont mind the tire hum like myself, and claimed to be great on and off road.

Cons: expensive, but what MT tire isnt....you get what you pay for.

Questionable: I have only driven 20 miles as of now, so tread life i have learned can be anywhere from 25,000 ( hard to believe) to 60,000 and still running ( also hard to believe). what it looks like if you maintain your alignment and dont live where the road temp reaches 120 F then you should expect around 30-50k depending how and where you drive.

Rims: 20x9 +18 offset XD Monsters (discount tires)

Top rim in my opinion and looks solid on just about any tire. Took me months to figure out the correct offset that i needed after endlessly searching this forum. So to give me the most optimal look i went with the +18. Gave me almost 2 inches of tire sticking out past the frame and enough clearance from the control arm/ plastic valance where i have absolutely no rubbing what so ever.

Offset/Backspacing:

IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING IF YOUR WHEEL WILL FIT. CHANCE IS IT WILL. If a +18 offset or 5.71in backspacing with a mud grappler fits on a 2wd leveled truck you will have no problem with another tire that is no more than 33x12.5 on a 9 inch rim. If you begin going into the Negative offset you may have to trim some plastic.

So offset and backspacing are EXACTLY the same thing. They are just a different measurement to describe the way that your rim will stick out or tuck in the fender depending on the look you want. Below is a great pic representing the view. And a website that will convert backspacing to offset with your specific wheel width.

Total with mounting and balancing and new bands for my tmps sensor i walked out of discount tire paying $2,650 for the wheels/tires just to give you an idea on their pricing.

Hope someone out there finds this thread somewhat helpful, below are some pics. Keep em coming...

Really nice but I would get rid of the chrome since you have black rims now.

ok, so i have a 07 fx4. I installed a 2.5" HBS leveling kit last weekend, i was told by quite a few people i could run 35x12.50 18's on my stock wheels, so i went ahead and ordered a set of nitto mud grapplers, went today to have them mounted and they will not fit, they hit the upper a-arm, so now it is either spacers or new wheels....i am thinking about these

the tire guy told me i need a +25 offset....is this correct?

A lot of members run 35x12.50's on leveled 4x4 with the stock wheels, but a lot of them rub the control arms at full steering lock. A MT with aggressive sidewall lugs will make this worse.
If you use an aftermarket wheel, you need an 8 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing.

that was just the thing, at full lock i didnt hit anywhere......i just could not rotate the wheel cause the tire lugs were on the a-arm. He told me to order 18x9's with a +25 offset, is anyone out there running this setup or do i just need to go ahead and cancel the order for the wheels until i find out exactly.

I'm running 35x12.50 on stock wheels onLy on rubs at full lock, your Grapplers must be wider than my trail Grapplers... But I'm wanting new rims myself, cause I hate it rubbing!
