Were there ever drum brakes...

Were there ever drum brakes from the factory on 2000-2003 F150 (any model -even the XL)? Looking at a differential for sale and the guy is telling me over the phone that it is a 2002 8.8 with drums????

If there were drums..can I just switch them out with my discs if I buy this rear (no other parts needed?)?

Yes there was. I do not know the exact steps and parts needed, but they can be converted to disk.

I'm under the impression that once Ford switched to 4 wheel discs, it was standard on all models. I could be wrong. Maybe look up rear brake shoes or drums on one of the auto parts websites and see if they are available after 98.

Ford switched to 4w discs with the 99's, although some early production 99s may have had drums.

Looked it up on Advance's site, for a 2001 they do offer drums.

Drums were offered until 01. When ford redesigned the abs controll unit. Most vehicle with drums had 12mm lug studs..

Really?? I'd didn't know that. I assumed that it was in 99 when they came out with the Lightning. I thought they went to 14mm studs in 99.
