Toyo's vs. Nitto's

I am looking at getting a set of Monsters, now I have to decide on a tire. I was looking at the Trail Grapplers, but the Toyo M/T's are pretty nice looking. Can anyone give me pros or cons for the two. Wear, Noise etc. Thanks, Mark

Both are excellent tires. The toyo's are a little more pricey. A member recently got a set of monsters with the Nittos. Ill see if I can find the link for you.

I have the nittos and love em. I get complements all the time, mainly becuase toyo's are so popular around here. the Nitto mud graps. wear faster than the toyo mt's. they are also louder, but they are somewhat cheaper. It's mainly up to you and what you want the tires for. hope this helps. I havent ran a set of the trail graps, But i know my next set will also be nitto brand.

Trail grapplers are a more "friendly" tire. Ride good, fairly quiet, last a little longer. The mud grapplers are intended to be more aggressive and they are, you just have to deal with the poorer wear and more noise. Its a trade off.

I have been running the Toyo Open Country M/T for about two years. I live in the Oregon Cascades and the ware is minimal. I would buy them again in a flash...

Here is my set of 305/55/20 nitto trail grapplers on monsters. Only had them for a couple weeks but I am very pleased with them so far but only have 1000 miles on them. They are quiet for the most part with a little bit of a hum on the interstate but nothing like the mud grapplers. Can't really give any other info on them until I put some more miles on them. Also the nittos were cheaper than any toyos I could find.

I install Toyo's daily here in KS. They are a great tire! M/t's are heavy, but wear very evenly and slowly.
I also know most all Toyo M/t's roadforce test very well! Essentially, the higher the RF the more vibration/tire pull you will have. On an LT tire, the max RF is 40lbs. I have yet seen a Toyo MT go over that. Most are down in the 10-25 range.
I have been working with them for about 2 years now.

As far as noise goes, every mud tire will have noise. But Toyo has gone a good job of lowering the volume on these. They are no where near as bad as some of the other brands I have heard.

Sorry that I don't know much about the Nitto, but I don't work with them as often. I will do a set of Toyo MT's about 1 to 2 times a week. They are a great tire!

Hope this helps.

The Toyo MT and Nitto Trail Grappler are virtually identical in performance.

I swear the things won't wear down. I've had them for about 4 years

Thats awesome, I can not say that about my Nitto's. Still have plenty of tread left, but not 4 years worth LOL.

So I guess it just comes down to price and look. Thanks for all the input.
