Pressure for LT rated tires
Pressure for LT rated tires
I asked this question before, but I'm not comfortable with my tire pressure. I bumped it up to about 44 psi because everyone here said that for a LT rated tire 40 is the min you should run and some guys were running up to 60. Well this eve I checked out all my tires and it seems as though my fronts are wearing in the center a little more. I am going to bump them back down to about 35 or so and try that for a bit, hopefully even them out anyways. My tires are LT275/70/18 BF Goodrich.
It depends on the tire. If you have the BFG All Terrain T/A which has a max of 80, your minimum should be 45. I would run those at around 50. That should handle any thing your truck is rated to.
An LT LR C, LR D, or LR E have different max pressures and should be run at different pressures. There are even different max pressure within LR D and LR E and those would be different. If your tires are any different than what I mentioned above, post the max pressure and LR.

NHTSA disagrees with you. If the vehicle has TPMS and a LR E max 80psi tire, the system will give a warning at 46psi. Also at 40 psi, that would be at max 50% of load carrying ability which would not even come close to the GAWR.

As stated above, I would run them at about 50 and if you find that to be too much, don't go below 45. 50 should handle anything within the weight limit of the truck. If towing a heavy load, you could go a bit higher, but mainly for sidewall support. No reason whatsoever to go the max at any time.

for the times that you are not hauling anything.
This is my first vehicle with the TPMS.
It just sucks that they dont make a D load tire for a 18 wheel.
can the TPMS be recalibrated for the E load rated tires so it wont give you a warning at less than 46 psi? can they be calibrated for say a d rated tire? so when you are not hauling anything and would be running a lower psi/
