Tire size recommendations

Just recently found this forum, as I'm a new F150 owner!

Ok, I have decided on going with Firestone Destination A/T's in P265/70R17, blackwall out (2009 F150 XLT SuperCab, not lifted or leveled). I am wanting a tire a little larger than what I have now to fill in the wheel well a bit more. Stock tires are: P235/75R17, and the optional size was P255/70R17 --- both are not easy sizes to find, and that leads me to the below questions.

I do have a few questions to ask those who have done this before me:

(coming from P235/75R17 and going to P265/70R17......)

1. What, if any mpg decrease will I experience?
2. Will I need to have the dealer reprogram anything?
a. If so, what have others paid at the dealer?
3. Any driving/operational characteristics affected? (rubbing, abs, tpms, etc.?)
4. If you have any pictures of these 265's on your truck, please show them.
5. Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks to all who answer, as I love my truck and want to be as diligent when making mods and changes so as not to waste money or adversely affect my wife's and my safety.

You can have the dealer reprogram the speedometer, but you don't have to. If you don't, your speedometer and odometer will be off slighty. The dealer should do it for less than $100 or you can do it yourself with an aftermarket computer tuner. You didnt' say if you have a 4x4 or 4x2, but that size will easily fit both.

Thanks for the info. It's a 4x4.

Is there anybody in the CT area who has an aftermarket computer tuner?

The 265/70R17 will work just fine and have no rubbing issues at all. As far as the speedometer and odometer, I called around and found smaller local shops to recalibrate for around $40. Might just have to make a few calls.
