what fits on stock XLT rim?

greetings, i have a 2008 xlt screw and have done the AS 2.5 leveling and am about to do the rear add-a-leaf. i have pondered new rims but it's not in the budget. i do however need new tires so i would like to know what the largest tire is that will fit on the stock rim. i am currently running 275/65/18 which came with the truck. can i put 295/70/18 on without a problem?

thanks in advance.

I am not 100% sure what the width in on the stock 18" wheels, but I can tell you that a 285/65R18 will fit an 8-10" wide wheel. I am thinking they should be 8" wide, but you should check the back of the wheels to be sure. With the 2.5" leveling kit that size should work just fine. Not finding any tires in size 295/70R18.

Stock rim width of the 17" and 18" OE wheel on the 04 up are 7.5". 20" rims are either 8 or 8.5", can't remember which.

Yeah, the OEM 17's and 18's are 7.5 inches wide.
I'm asuming you have a 4x4, based on your stock tire size. You can fit a 35x12.50 but they will rub the control arms at full steering lock. But, as Derrick mentioned, this is slightly wider than recommended for a 7.5 inch wide wheel. Running a wider than recommended tire can cause the center portion of the tread to wear slightly faster than normal. However, many members have ran 12.50 inch wide tires with no problems.
Keep in mind, if you go this large and later decide to go with an aftermarket wheel, you will need one almost identical to the OEM wheel (8 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing for instance).
