13.50 or 15.50

Unfortunately the time has come and I'm in need of tires much sooner than I wanted... I'm going to go back with a Toyo MT again because I got about 60k out of the last set. I'll also be moving up to a 38" tire from my current 37's; which brings me to my dillema.

The 38's come in both a 13.50 and a 15.50 width (only a 20 dollar price difference between the two). I'm kinda stuck now weather I want to stick with a 13.50 wide tire that sticks out about 1.5" from the flares or move to a 15.50 that would stick out considerably more. The 13.50's already put a considerable amount of gunk down the side.

It's really just a vanity/opinion question I guess, but which would you guys say width wise? Also anyone have a better price than $430 a tire? I think I have covered most places and am going back with tiresdirect.net (where my first set came from); but figured I'd ask..

I clean the truck nearly daily and see the gunk coming down the side mostly in summer (flecks/slings of tar and junk, etc) because of all the crap down the side; but I understand that is the price I pay for not wanting the 'tucked in' look from my wheel/tire combo. It defeats the purpose of the flares, but I love the look and that is how I wanted it and built it.

I don't know. Your truck looks great right now. I'd be more concerned about the added wear and tear on the front end with the 15.50's and they will probably hurt your MPG's some too. Tough call.

Thanks for the thoughtful insight Wandell! I have never brought up the subject here but I can gurantee everyone here I have THE worst front end angles! My kings with the new springs have spread out, I'm literally pushing 4" of lift over the 8" from the rize; No joke they are bad! So more wear and tear would definitely be a bad deal, especially with things wearing out quickly anymore.

I'll mark Wandell as a vote for 13.50's I have been checking out IDNC's photos and another's pics with 38x13.50's; but also see they ended up getting wheel spacers. Leaves me thinking they probably should have gotten 15.50's to start with? ahhh decisions, decisions!

15.50's FTW Can not beat the look of a wide tire! I think it would really set your truck off aside from how good it looks now.

i've got the 13.50's on a 10in. wide wheel and i think they look good. i would go with 15.50's if i could do it again though. these are running low so my next tires will definitely be 14.50s or bigger.

There is that black screw on 38x15.50's. Texas Aviator or something?

I'd say go with 15.50s. 13.50s just look too tall and narrow for my tastes. Just got mine in today

how wide are your rims? for me that would be a big factor that is a wide tire want to make sure your rims aren't going to balloon them to much and at $450 a tire I would want them to last as long as I could.

Im with lakemarykid. Wide tires definitely make a truck look beefy. Look isn't everything, though. If you are worried about safety/functionality/angles, etc. I'd upgrade everything else involved.

Your truck is going to be awesome either way so you can't go wrong!

If it were me I would go with the 13.50s unless you have a really wide rim.

I got 38/13.5 on mine, pics are in my album. I ended up getting wheel spacers cause I wanted a little more wider stance. The 13.5 actually measure out to 14.3. The way I look at it with yours, if you happy with the stance now, just imagine it with the same width tire, just .7" taller.
