Where are all the BIG Tires?

I'm trying to buy a set of 38"s or 37"s for my rig, but I can't find any. One lonely 38" tire in all of Canada. Supposedly, none in the US,either. BFG says they have no scheduled production, Goodyear is going into production on Sept.13, for sale in October. Nothing from the Pro-Comp dealers I've chatted with, either.Usually they have a buy 3 get one sale in October, but not this year.
They also do not list any tires larger than a 37" on their site.Did they stop making bigger? How about Mickey Thompson? I can't find any tires bigger than 35"s on their site. I haven't spent much time looking for Toyo's, mostly because they are on every truck I see lately. I'm starting to realize why. Maybe that's all anyone can get, now.
Even the vendors at Pirate4x4.com can't get any, and usually you can get anything from those guys.

So, if you, or someone you know, works in the tire industry, maybe you could provide some insight as to why this is happening, and when/if the situation is going to improve.

Thanks for the tip MGDFan, but I tried Crappy Tire, too.Zero stock, and no production date.
Same story, north and south of the Canadian border.

Thanks to you,too,UofAF150, but SuperSwampers are a bit too aggressive for my daily driver.I'm looking for something a bit more street-able.

ntwonline had 8 procomp xtreme mud terrains37x12.5x17 at $388 per but shipping to me is $785
They also had 12 Mud Terrains at $312 per, but you see the shipping kills the deal.

And thats all they had for tires. Well, not true, they had 3 BFG KM2's, but a guy can only roll on three wheels for a little bit.......

4wheelonline.com wouldn't even answer their phone. And no toll free number either. After five minutes on hold, even the girl in the message quit talking, and so I hung up.

And the guy I chatted with at NTWonline had no idea why the shortage of tires, or when it was going to ease.

The only bright spot so far is 4wheelparts.com. They could hook me up with MickeyThompson MTZ, but it would be $2k shipped to me, and that doesn't leave much wiggle room for me. He only had 5 tires left, but I need to save a bit more cash. I'll call him next week and see what he has left.

that shipping is crazy!! is there a way they could use a freight company? or is it because the taxes you pay when you go to canada?

I know you said you didn't want toyos but I just ordered 4 38x15.5x20 toyo mts from http://www.westkycustoms.com/category/offroad_tires/

When I called last week they had 12 in stock.

They carry Mickey Thompson and have claws and mtzs in 38s. Not sure about shipping to Canada though.
