1992 F250 4x4 will 295 x16s Fit?
1992 F250 4x4 will 295 x16s Fit?
Got a stock 1992F250 4x4 std. cab. Its not lifted and has the stock 8 lug steel rims (don't know how wide they were).
The truck is currently running P265r16's. Can I jump to 295's and will they mount on these rims?
I'm sure someone out there has already done this...are there any issues?
Thanks for your expertise!

No replies? Am I in the wrong area? Or is this truck too old?
Can you at least tell me if the 295x16s will fit the stock rims?
In this economy, I cant afford to buy the wrong size tires and unfortunately, a tire salesman will tell you anything to make a sale.
Thanks!

I think the stock rims are going to be way too narrow for that wide a tire. If I am not mistaken, they are only like 6-6.5" wide. Also you do not mention what aspect of tire you are going to get, which will make a big difference.
Sorry, you're right. The replacement tires would be 29575r16. The tires that are on the truck are 265r75x16. My main concern is if they will fit those stock steel wheels but also if there will be interference with any of the front steering/springs during full lock to one side.
Not sure if they will rub, but I looked at a BFG tire (AT/KO) and it requires a minimum of 7.5" wide rim. I would be surprised if yours are wider than 6.5". As far as diameter you would be going from a 31+" to a 33+" tire. so about 7.5%, so things like speedometer would be off by that much.
Sorry I can't give you any more info, but I think your biggest concern at this point would be wheel width.

I found this on an earlier thread. Did this just answer my question? 295's are out of the question I suppose?

I ran 285/75-16 BFG ATs on my stock 16x7 rims for a couple of months when I first bought my Screw. I have them mounted on 16x10 Eagle 589s now. They looked good on the stock rims (not as good as on the 589s though) and fit without any rubbing. I know several people who are running 285s on stock 16x7s without any problem. In fact I know several Z-71 owners who are have run 285s on their stock 16x6.5 inch rims for years without any problems. While it is always best to follow the tire manufacture's recommendations, I don't think one inch is going to make that big a difference. If it was that big a deal there would be warning lables everywhere not to do it instead of a "recommendation".
