2007 XL wheels... how big can I go?

Hey folks, sorry if this is a common question. Did some digging and my search-fu is apparently weak this morning...

I have a 2007 f150 2wd XL with the stock 255/16/17 wheels/tires.

The only thing I dont like about my truck is the performance in winter snows and on very wet pavements. Even with a lot of weight in the back, I have issues getting around.

So my question is, how much larger of a wheel can I go to so I can have a better selection of tires? Im not against some stock ugly steel rims like the spare came on in the 18 size, but will I end up rubbing?

Thanks all, very new to the truck mod world.

Mark

I drive an '06 XL, I stuck with 17 inch wheels, but upped my tire size. I run 265/70R17 tires on my truck and have zero issues.

For an 18 inch wheel on an 04-up F150, the OE Ford 18 inch size is 275/65R18. You just gotta check the overall diameter of the tires when you change sizes. That's what really matters.

I agree. I'd go with 265/70-17's, or if you add a leveling kit you could go up to a 285/70-17.
