Uneven tire wear...MAYBE?

So recently I took my 22's off and got some 285/70/17 terra grapplers on the stock wheels. I have had BFG's before on my last truck but never terra grapplers. My question is... I was looking at the front tires and noticed the outside edges of the tread are wearing faster than the insides or the outside tread of the back tires. Is this normal wear because they are on the front (due to turning and such)? Or should I go have it checked out?

Sorry for the stupid question but I just wanted to be sure everything was ok or not.

Sounds like an alignment problem. Probably toe. Unless you mean both outside edges of the tire, while the middle is not wearing. In that case it would be under inflation.

I would check your air pressure, make sure they are all the same. If your truck has been lifted, you might want to have the alignment checked. Even a leveling kit needs some adjustment on the alignment.

it's the outside edges on both of my front tires. So therefore it probably just needs more air? How many PSI should I run in them? 285/70/17

Also I had the truck leveled about a month ago but they did align it

It depends on which Terra Grappler in 285/70R17 you have. If it is the max 35 psi tire, then run it at 35. If it is the max 80 psi LR E tire, then run it at 50. If they are the max 80 psi and you are running them at lower than 45, I can see why they would be wearing on the outside edges. That is also dangerous. Too low a pressure causes heat, which can cause tire damage and blowouts at highway speeds.

Read around the outer wall of your tire. Somewhere on it, it will tell you a MAX PSI. I have Nitto 420S's on my Harley Davidson and i'm running 35psi per tire. Filled with Nitrogen

I went and checked during lunch and I am running about 35 psi which is the correct amount. I guess it's an alignment problem. Which pisses me off because I paid for an alignment just a month ago when it was leveled. I cant stand when people dont do there jobs.

How long have these tires been on the front? It could just be from lack of rotation. Are they feathered or is there just less tread on the outer edges?

It could just be in how you drive. I like to drive a bit faster than most and carry more speed through the corners so the outside edge of my tires are worn a bit more than the center or insides.

- Toe is likely off. Don't wait to get to get it checked if the tires are wearing quickly. Note that the back of each block on the outside of the front tires often wears faster on heavy trucks - necessitating crossing one pair of tires when rotating.

Same here i've literally had mine on a month. A week after putting them on I had to drive from the MS gulf coast to Washington D.C. then down to Raleigh N.C. so i've put a little over 2000 miles on mine as well. i've experienced a little bit of wear on the outer edges but nothing worth worrying about. And i too like to drive at a fast paste. I mean after all it's Supercharged of course I drive it hard
