wheel spacers

Downfalls would be they eat away at your bearings faster, the further your wheel sticks out, makes it harder to tuck a bigger tire. Other than that you should be good to go. A lot of people think they are bad news but most don't have experience with them and its all hear say. Keep your wheels torqued and you should be good to go. I've been running adapters for about 4 months now with no problems and they stick out much further than spacers.

assuming your 04 isnt a heritage, smallest you can go is a 1.5" spacer without trimming the oem studs. and make sure the spacers are hub centric.
I've had 2" spacers on my truck with 38's for about a month now, and have not had any vibrations or problems with them. the truck actually rides better with them, believe it or not. since the wheels/tires are pushed out more the lateral stability is increased.
I got mine off ebay for $150 a pair.
