haha your right... But the way I think of it... These tires should last me 45-55k (with proper rotations) and so you should realistically only need 2-3 sets of tires for your truck through its life.. unless lift/lower

(well as long as I plan on having truck before I will want to upgrade)

So for me.. I paid $1300 mounted/balanced through 4wheelparts and i was okay with that price..

And may be a stupid way to think of it... but if you avg 12-15k per year.. and lets say you avg 60mph (no on probably does this because of city driving) but that is 12,000-15,000 hours you will be in your truck a year... If you are anything like me, you are constantly looking at the way your truck looks.. or thinking about it while you are driving.. So that's a lot of time to sit there and think.. "did I settle on a set of tires.. or did I get the ones I want!"

So pay a little more if you can afford it, and be happy with your choice!

That's how I looked at it when I was trying to find tires

That is a lot of damn money for tires
Toyo's are great tires, but you will find they cost even more (for comparable size). Getting a good AT or MT in the 33 - 35" range on an 18+" wheel does not come cheep. Honestly I thought I got a great deal on my Nitto's.

Here's my Toyo OC A/T's in a 35x11.5x18. So far I love them. I got them for $260 a pop or so plus all the other associated mount/balance/tax stuff. So far I love them. They ain't cheap but nothing was in the 18" and bigger sizes. Also, be aware that Toyo doesn't warranty these tires once you get to 18" and above. I almost switched to the Cepek tire when they told me that but they didn't have my size in stock.

Well I've done some more research and really like the look of the Trail Grapplers and even better the price compared to Toyo OC MTs

I can get 18x9 Addicts with 285/65/28 for $1,855 shipped

MDHawkin, how do you like your Trail Grapplers? Did you have to do a lot of trimming on those 295's ?

I love my trail grapplers. They ride great for a M/T ,E rated too). Its been raining a lot lately (well you live in SC so you know what I am talking about) and they have handled it just fine. As for off road I have not been in anything too bad yet, but where I have been I have no complains, pull just fine.

As for trimming I did not have to do any at all. They do not rub either at full lock forward or reverse. I do have a 2.5 AS level. Also, take into account I am running my factory wheels.

Not too many people need MT tires for everyday use but the Toyo MT's and the Nitto Trail Grapplers may be the best to fill that need. I run my Toyo's everyday about a hundred highway miles and they've been great so far but still not as practical as an all terrain tire. Bought mine for look's and some minor offroading since I moved out into the country.

Quiet in respect to an MT, absolutely. Compared to an all terrain they will make more noise. You can turn the radio on, or crack the window and you dont hear them anymore.

"be aware that Toyo doesn't warranty these tires once you get to 18" and above." Only partially true, I have run Toyo open country M/T's on my truck since it was new, got 45000 miles out of the first set. 33's on 20's and the shop I bought them from, Les Schwab Tires Carried the warranty on the tires. replaced the two fronts after hitting a huge pot hole after a major storm one night, wrecked about twelve cars, but just damaged the tires on my truck. Les Schwab replaced them with two brand new ones without a question. Toyo may not warranty them but you can get a warranty from the shop you buy them from. I love the Toyo's and won't buy anything else. They are very quiet for being as aggressive as they are, and they work great in all areas I have put them through. Air down a little and they handle sand like pavement. And they work great in mud also. Just my 2 cent's

I understand that you can buy an extended warranty on the tires, but that's an added cost and it's the dealer warrantying them at that point, not Toyo. If you only get 20K out of the tires or the tread seperates on them you are SOL with Toyo. I'm not a huge fan of extended warranties but that's your only relief if there is a problem with them. At $320 MSRP it's a bit daunting to add another $30/tire for a warranty. Don't get me wrong, I love the tires as evidenced by the fact that I still bought them. I just thinks it's odd that they stop warrantying these tires at 18".
