help on tires

I am looking for new tires, have a 2005 XLT, 5.4l, with a 2.5 inch level kit, currently have a set of 18" ford rims I want to switch to but no idea about tires...looking for any suggestions! I was thinking something around 285/65/18 or 275/60/18. Not sure yet.

Here is the rim I have, but clearly no idea about tires,

Ive heard Nitto Terra Grapplers are good, Toyo, Yokohama, but no real clue about how they all ride...probably ok, but just looking for anyone who has had these tires for their input.

THANKS!

If you are looking for an off road/mud type tire look at the Toyo Open Country MT, Nitto Trail Grappler, Hankook Dynapro RT03.

If you want something a little more tame then BFG AT TAKO, Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo Open Country AT, GY Duratrac......there are more.

Sizes to consider:
295/70R18
285/65R18
33x12.50R18
305/65R18

2" AS leveling + 275/70 Toyo OC MT looks fantastic on my '05 FX4, just got 'em this morning! the 285/75 probably would have fit but I enjoy my 5.4L moving when I step on the gas...

Do you have any pictures of this setup? I am waiting on my aftermarket wheels and tires to sell and I am putting a set of 275/70/18 Firestone destination m/t on a set of FX4 wheels and I would like to see some pictures of this size on Fx4 wheels.

Not the best, but I'm far from a professional photographer. Camera phone FTW!

Thanks for the full side shot of the truck PHG.
I would have to say that is the best looking combo on a stock wheel I have seen on here yet, and trust me I have done a ton of searching. I really like how they fill the wheel wells out but they are not over stuffed. By the way did they hurt your power any?

I just wish I could sell my aftermarket wheels so I cam buy a set of tires in that size, the wifey said I had to sell atleast one of my three sets of wheels before I bought new tires.

Not at all, if anything it made it better because I have traction now (crappy stock BFG ATs that were on there before -- not ripping BFG just that tire). I had them filled to 50psi. The truck drives great, they balanced perfectly and the guy aligned the truck for me after the leveling kit so it is better than it was. I've gotten nothing but compliments so far, even from myself -- and I'm a hard person to please lol.

HA HA I understand the hard to please thing, notice I said I have 3 sets of wheels for the truck. I am going with the Firestone Destination M/T, hopefully I will be happy with them. I run a BFG m/t on my jeep and they aren't much different tread design so we'll see. I'll posted some before and after pictures of the truck when I get them on.

i had a set of hankook dynapro rt03s on my old truck and they did awesome in the mud and also cleaned out really well. on my current truck, i have the toyo open countrys and i love the way they look. they are not too noisy and they ride pretty smooth. both good tires, both will do what you need them to

This! I run Toyo Open Country MT's and LOVE them. I've been shocked at how they hold their tread!
