Tires on '05 FX4 18" stock rims - no levelling kit

I want to start off saying that I know there are so many posts regarding this but when going through them, I seem to be getting varying info. I want to put a larger tire (A/T or M/T) on my stock FX4 rims without installing a levelling kit...

My questions are as listed:

1. What size tire can i fit on the truck on the stock 18" rims without a levelling kit?

2. Does anyone have any pics that show the larger tires on stock rims?

I would really like to get this clarified so i can upgrade my truck soon.

Thanks for all the replies.

Scott

Without a leveling kit, I'd stick with a 33 inch tire like a 305/60-18 (33x12.50) or a 285/65-18 (33x11.50).

I have a set of 285/65-18 Trail Grapplers on my 04 FX4 with the stock wheels and no leveling kit.

Here's a few pictures. I have a couple more in my album.

NavKey - do you have any rubbing issues?

luner99 - I don't have any rubbing issues. When I went to get them installed the guy at the tire shop thought that they might rub on the lower front plastic part of the bumper but after installing there was no need to trim.

Thanks
Kevin

Nitto ride

Kevin: Beautiful set up. I have a 2009 FX4 and I am getting 285/65R18s Nittos on stock wheels. I am torn between the Trail Grapplers and the Terra Grapplers. How are your Trail Grapplers on the highway for a 300 mile trip with respect to noise?

whaler24, Thanks. I went from the stock rugged trails and the Trail Grapplers are definitely heavier and they do humm when on the highway but nothing outrageous. They ride good for an aggressive tire but I did notice that the truck wants to wander a bit more when I'm on a rough street but I think this is more of a M/T tire characteristic.

I don't have enough miles to comment on the wear or offroad characteristics yet. So far my driving has been street and freeway.
