Something new, a tires and shocks question
It’s time to replace my tires and shocks. I have a stock 06FX4 Supcab w/18 inch wheels. After trolling around the forum I’ve gain some info but would like a bit more guidance. For tires, I’m thinking of going more aggressive with a 275/70/18 w/the stock rims. Seems most of you like BFG and Toyo, any other suggestion for something a little less expensive? Any issue with this size?
And the same for shocks, any thoughts/recommendations?
I’m not planning on adding a leveling kit or lift. I’m actually thinking about removing the rear blocks. I know, 4x4 are meant to lifted not lowered but it’s my daily driver plus I don’t want to spend the extra money.
Thanks

I don't know about the size issues, since i have an older model truck, but if you're looking for something less expensive than a BFG or Toyo tire, I'd check out Nitto Terra Grapplers, and the Hankook DynaPro ATM. They're both pretty aggressive looking tread patterns, and a chunk of change cheaper than a BFGoodrich A/T.
If I were you, I'd check out reviews and pictures on discounttire.com. I recently picked up a set of Terra Grapplers for my truck for pretty damn cheap from them.

The 275/70R18 will fit without a leveling kit. As far as brand, can't give any info on Toyo's, but the BFGs are excellent. You might also look at something like the Goodyear Silent Armor.
For shocks, you can't do any better than Bilsteins, IMO. There are cheaper brands, but the Bilsteins are excellent.

275/70-18's fit without issue. I've been running them for the past year on my 07. Being a stock size for Super Duty trucks, you've got a lot of tire options to choose from.
If you're planning on keeping your truck for any lenght of time, go with Bilsteins. I've run many different brands of shocks on full sized trucks over the years and most tend to be somewhat soft after 80K miles. I'm at that point with my HD Bilsteins and they still function as new. Very impressed.
