BFG AT Questions

I need new tires and I think I've narrowed it down to BFG AT's. My tire size is 275/55/20 on stock 20" rims. I have a 2007 Lariat SCrew. It doesn't look like the tire is available in that size. Is there another size that will fit my truck without modification? I'm not interested in lifting my truck. What is the largest size I can get on stock rims without any modifications?

I like the aggressive look of this tire, but would be willing to consider a different tire that has the same aggressive look.

Thanks for your input and Happy New Year!

You could go with the 285/55R20. That would not require a lift or level kit. Dimension is less than .5 in larger in diameter and would affect your speedometer by less than 1 mph.

285/55 20 is what most do who are not looking to go much bigger. They fit fine.

Well I got sticker shock with the BFG AT's. I can't justify $1600.00 for new rubber. I decided to go with Cooper Zeon LTZ's. Good looking tire at half the price. Getting them installed this week. Thanks for all the input.

Define nicer.... BFG AT KO's last, perform off road, are reasonably quiet, and durable. And they are round and will balance out...

My brother's F350 has 35x12.50R16.5 BFG AT's on it, and they are good tires. Even on his longbed, crewcab 4x4 they have lasted forever and look to have another decade or two left in the tread. Seriously, he will probably get 60k out of them on a SRW 1 ton! I can't argue with their overall quality, because they are smooth and balanced easily.

Given my brother's truck is 7,200 pounds with a full tank of diesel and nearly 22 feet long, it doesn't do a great deal of off-roading. For a 1-ton truck, the tires offer an acceptable ride on the highway, perform admirably on the dirt and gravel roads they sometimes traverse and have showed no signs of wear in the past 2 years. I am sure there are quieter and smoother tires out there, but on a straight-axle, leaf sprung truck with a 7.3 Powerstroke and straight pipes, the tires are the last thing to disturb your ride.

All the reviews state they are bad in mud, the tread packs and doesn't clear very well. Best for daily driver, rockcrawlers and everything in between ('cept mud).

THe AT KO's are an all terrian tire. No AT is gonna work great in the mud. If mud performance is an issue, you should consider the BFG MT KM or another quality mud terrian.

maybe im biased cuz i dont really do much accept mud. dont rock climb or anything like that. my friend has had bfg at's and mickey thompsons on one ton trucks first was a 3/4 ton chevy 6" lift on 35 12.5 bfg at's with the 8.1 liter and he got stuck down by the river 2 years ago numerous times. this year he had a 2006 one ton ford 6.0 with the mickey thompson baja atz's and we made it thru worse **** than the chevy ever did. and his ford has a 4" lift. i might have a pic in my album. but they are 35x13.5s.

edit the baja atz's are an all terrain right? and also he got 40k out of his first set cuz he just got new ones 3 months ago
