Thermoquiets rock....

Got some Thermoquiets pads and Duralast rotors put on Sunday and they've made a great match. Those spindle nuts are'nt bad as long as you a 300ftlb torque wrench.
Before I started, did a bunch of searchs for the torque specs for the caliper bolts and caliper bracket bolts and came up with nothing. Called firestone and goodyear to ask and both places stated 45 ft lbs on the caliper bolts and 150 ft lbs on the caliper bracket bolts. Does that sound right ? I also used 242 blue on all threads.

Other than that got the rotors from Autozone for $87 each and the pads for $40 after rebate, not a price and a huge difference from the wore out ones...

Just tighten the dang things. Some things on the trucks I would never tighten without a torque wrench, but the caliper bolts are not one of them. I tightened mine with a wrench 40,000 miles ago and they are fine.

x2. Tighten it as much as it goes until you think you may slip & strip the head.

I have a set of TQ's ready to go on mine now that I finally got the old rotors off. Would have been done tonight, but realized I was almost out of anti-sieze. TSC was out of it, and two "hardware stores" didn't even know what I was talking about when I called. I'll pick it up tomorrow.

I got Wagner rotors at Advance for $65 each. Wonder why the 2WD ones are so much more?

BTW, the T/Q's I installed on my wife's Escape have been performing well for about 6 months now.

The 2WD rotors have the hub and bearings all in one assembly.

That would 'splain it, then. The Mexi-Tai-Chinese "house brand" rotors for the 4WD were in the $33-$35 range. Since I tow, I figured I'd go with the better (?) Wagners which were twice as much, although I found they are ALSO now made in China.

Is anything still made here???
