Tire Size Confussion - help

My 2002 F-250 SD (4wd) came with LT235/85-R16 tires on it. They have been replaced once. Now I want a little more of a traction tire and the local tire shop is telling me that I can replace them with LT265/75R-16 tires ( they have a special on them).. Is he blowing smoke my way or is this OK? Will there be any impact with a change? I know absolutely nothing about tires except to keep air in them and replace them when worn!

Those are almost identical in height so it will not affect the speedometer or the odometer. The 265 will be about an inch wider and look better as far as I'm concerned.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

IMO the tires would look great, a little more aggresive for you, DO IT.

I'd suggest going at least another size larger, 285/75-16.

One question I would have is what load range tire are the new ones. If they are not a load range E, I would pass.

hey if you want the real answers go to the web site of the tire old and new. They will give you averall height and load rating. Then you will have all the info to make a decision. Just my two cents
