F150 Heritage ABS light-already changed rear sensor

I have a 2004 Heritage with 175,000 miles and a manual transmission.

My abs light is on now. I did research in the forums and found that the rear differential sensor was a good place to begin. I changed that, but when I changed it I snapped two clips off where the sensor is held! I replaced it with the new sensor and placed some electrical tape in place of the clips. Is this going to be okay? It doesn't look like there would be any other way to replace the clips.

The abs light is still on though. It comes on as soon as I put the truck in gear. Where should I look next? Is the front sensor the most likely problem area?

Thanks!

If the truck has 4 wheel ABS, which it prolly does. I would check the front wheel speed sensors. It could be those or as much as an ABS module, which that gets expensive. Prolly better off to take it to a dealer and have then check it.

I am not sure if it has 4 wheel ABS, but I will check into that now. But something else that is interesting is that the ABS light does not come on until after I put the truck in gear AND begin to move.

It goes like this--I start the vehicle, all the lights in the dash come on as usual.

Then, everything is normal, the lights go out. I put the it in gear, still no lights, everything's normal. Then, I begin to move and that is when the ABS light comes on.

Does that clue anyone into anything?

You lost me on that one. Vehicles do the craziest things sometimes.

Would the clips that I broke when I changed it and the electrical tape that is placed on it now affect anything?

It shouldnt, if the truck is doing the same thing now as it was before you changed the sensor, then my guess is you have other problems.
