17" will fit, you can get a 4x4 XLT with 17" stockers, the braking system is the same on it as what you have on yours.

you can do any size wheel you want as long as it is 6x135 bolt pattern...you will need to change the tire to keep the height of the truck the same..

17's and 35's are going to require a leveling kit

17" and 35" are a good looking combo. Makes for a good bit of rubber showing, looks mean. Make sure new upper arm does not interfere with tire as its still not a full suspension lift angles could lead to some rubbing.

You cannot fit a wheel smaller than 17 inches over the brakes on your truck.

Why not? I know I am new to the site but not to F-150's. Owned 7 in the past 20 years and did dumb stuff to them all. I know that was true with the Gen III like yours. I just got rid of mine like yours that had 7" lift and 37's for a 05 Super Crew. I just put on one of my wheels on a buddy's truck that had a flat and he was in a bind because is spare was flat. I have 17's on my truck he has 18's and it worked just fine. Got it to my house and fixed his tire and he was back off. He drove about 25 miles on my rim and tire and it did no damage.

Just reread your post, and saw you meant you CAN fit 17's on it. My bad, carry on...

I figured something like that. i figure that the brakes were 15" or 16" rotors i think, so no smaller than 17"

I took off my 18's and went with 17's with 35's over 3 yrs ago with no problems. Just level it and use stock 17" wheel's or ones with close to stock specs.

He means the width and backspacing. You will need an 8 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing like his.
