New Brakes and Rotors, HELP

Just put on new brakes and rotors. Wagner thermoquiet pads (semi-metallic) and wagner thermoquiet rotors on all 4 corners. Drove it today and the front rotors got really hot, I could smell it when I got out. Rears are fine, double checked everything but I am not sure. Any ideas??? 2004 FX4, 4wd crew. I noticed on my edge that the MPG was lower than normal after my 20 min drive to work on the highway. Thanks

sounds like your front rotors are dragging... did you clean and grease the sliders? Something on the calipers must be hanging up.

I am not sure what the sliders are, so I didnt clean and grease them. Any detail about that would help and I will give it a try.

on the caliper where the bolts go is a metail pin that the caliper slides on. remove the bolt, pull the slide and boot out. clean and grease with high heat grease

here's a pic of what the slide looks like

here you can see the slides mounted in the brackets facing towards the inside the truck. *Disregard the bolt im hold, has nothing to do with the slides.

Ok, finally got a chance to work on it this evening. When I took off the rotor and pads I noticed that the back pad on each side was worn down except at the very edge of the pad and both front rotors (brand new) had a groove worn into the back side. Maybe O'reilly's sold me the wrong pads?? or any other guess?? The brake pads are really loose when I get them put in, there is alot of play unlike the picture of Patman03SprCrw posted above. Thanks
