Im looking to buy a set of Thermo Quiet Ceramic pads for the front and back of my truck today. Has anyone had a bad experience with these pads? I have aftermarket rotors already. I have a 05 5.4 XLT screw with 33s. Im just sick of dust, with the kevelar pads I have on right now. They work great but dust like stock.

 

I think there is one guy on here that has the Wagners TQ ceramics. If I remember correctly, he was pleased, but was too soon to know if they ate his rotors as some ceramics do. Most of us that have Wagners have the TQ semi-metallics and have no dust problems. I have 73,000 miles on mine and very pleased with them.

 

Bluejay your the main reason I considered these pads. If I hear any negative feed back on these ceramics I am going with the Semi-metallic pads. Thank you for the reply.

 

Im just going to go with the Semi metallic and play it safe for now.

 

I don't think you will be disappointed.

 

I figure that in about 16,000 more, I will be ready for a second set. That will be a 100,000.

 

Just as long as the dusting is down I will keep these on until they are done. I can deal will cleaning once a week.

 

What rotors are you running Bluejay?

 

I replaced the front factory rotors with Rabestos replacements at about 41,000 miles, due to bearing failure on one side. Did nothing to the Wagner pads and they never made a sound, still stopped great. The rear rotors are the originals.

 

I ordered the ceramics, this is one of the hardest discions I`ve had to make. lol. I ordered the semi but they didnt have the rears, so then I ordered the ceramics and they needed to order them both so I said forget it order the rear semi and I left. I got home and canceled the semi and ordered the ceramics. I really have a problem.

I almost ordered both set. I think I had an easier time building my house.

 

I bet either one will work great. I think the ceramic would be good if you did a lot of mountain driving or trailer towing where heat build-up could be a factor. Otherwise, I think the semi-metallics are just fine. Nice thing about it, it's not a huge cost and not a difficult job to redo in case you are unhappy.

 

I think thats why I went with ceramics because its not a big difference in cost but now im looking at rotors all around again. I just cant stop.

 

I'm the guinea pig with the TQ ceramics! Only had them on the truck about a month but I am very pleased and no dust to speak of. I am using them on my stock rotors and I plan on keeping an eye on them but so far so good! Whatever you decide on as far as Thermoquiets hurry up because there is a rebate if you buy before end of month!
