Just completed brake job; NEED HELP

OK, replaced front rotors and pads. Also replaced rear pads. Went for a test drive. It sounds like a grinding and bumping, pulsing in the pedal, kind of from the front driver side. After about 3 to 5 good stops, the ABS light comes on but then the noise and all stops. After the light comes on the brakes work like a new truck. If I shut the truck down it restarts this series of garbage; bad breaking until the ABS light comes on and then the brakes work great. I tried to bleed all 4 two different times. Took the tires back off and checked; everything looks fine. What could this be guys? I plan to drive to work tomorrow. Please give me some thoughts. Thanks!!!

sounds like its running the abs all the time till it realizes there is a fault in the system, then the light comes on...abs turns off..and all is good. Check to make sure you didn't knock a sensor loose when you changed the brakes...look for wires pulled out...or maybe you got on of them dirty. I dont think the rotors would have the geared teeth for the sensors...i think those are in the hubs themselves...but i could be wrong.

im not sure, i havent realy looked buy my fiance's honda has a seperate resavoir for the abs fluid, when i gets to low there's not enough fluid to pump up the abs system, so it tries to pump up the like sqandspl said, it fault's and stop's. it eventually burned up the abs pump. she didn't tell me any thing funny was going on until after it had screwed the pump up.

so just check and make sure the abs resivoir(if the f150's have a seperate one) has plenty of fluid in it.

when you first crank the truck up before putting it int gear does the brake pedal vibrate?? thats what the honda was doing.

hope you figure it out

Anyone have any updates on this. I recently did a front back rotors and pads replacement and I have a similar problem. It is freaking annoying.

I have heard something about a rear speed sensor or rear abs sensor. If anyone has a part number that they replaced on something like this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

take it somewhere and have the code pulled.also the rear wheel speed sensor in in the rear end so unless some freak accident happened while you were doing your brakes it isnt that.but get the code pulled up.

I havent had a chance to have it scanned yet. My brother has one of the Snap On scanners that can access the ABS codes also. I plan on going there this week after work.

Last night my other dash light came on. Now both the ABS light and the red Brake lights are illuminated on the dash. It is getting scary now and I would rather not drive it until I fix it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
