New and a bit lost

I just bought my first truck last summer. I never thought I was a truck guy till I got one... now I'm hooked.

I have a 06 f150 Lariat SC 4X4 with the 20" rims. I am about to do a lift on the truck (just 2 or 3 inches...I'll save those questions for another thread), and want to keep the stock rims, but beef up the tires. I'm thinking 285/65's should be a safe bet, but was hoping for around the 305 range.

So here's my question (sorry, I know I ramble)... at what point do I have to worry about inside clearance (ex. when hard cornering)?

I'd go with a 305/55-20 (33x12.50) tire and add a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit. Most 305mm wide tires will clear on the inside unless they are a mud tire with large sidewall lugs like the Nitto Mud Grappler for example.

Thank you for the quick reply. I also appreciate the tire size conversion (I haven't quite figured that all out yet).

I realize this will slightly take this out off topic, but, would you recommend a leveling kit over a body lift?

Most people will tell you the body lifts for the '04 and up trucks are a PITA. If you are paying to have it installed, you can pretty much get a suspension lift for just a few bucks more.

I agree. Body lifts are a great value if you can install them yourself. THey are a real pain on the 04-08's and shops charge a lot to install them.

I was looking at some leveling kits. They look pretty easy to install, and from what I can tell seem to be the cheapest. Are they crap? Cause cheap and easy rarely mean good things

I"ve got 50k miles on 2" leveling kit, and I haven't had a problem with it. Also got a S/D at work with one and we are constantly towing heavy loads and still never had a problem.

Then I would look into the 305/55/20 like mentioned above. If you want some pics of what the setup would look like just look into my albums and im running that setup
