Playing around w/ 35 tire

Let me set the stage. I have a 06 fx4 screw that I bought in November of 08. Since then I have been reading and learning alot here. I like the look of 35 on a leveled truck. I have not dont it yet.
I reasontly bought a 22x9.5 rim with 38mm offset and a 325/50/22 terra grappler to try the fitment for my wifes HUMMER H3. Yea only one to try out the spacing before getting the others. Fits great ( tire sticks out less than 1 inch) no issues ( it is getting leveled thu).

Yesturday I got the other wheels and found that the double bolt pattern on the wheels are for 6x139.7 and 6x135. Yep they also fit the F150

Today I mounted one on the front of my none leveled fx4. IT FIT. The back edge of the tire was 1/4 inch or less away from the ball joint and at full lock either direction ...no contact. NOW I know the truck could not be driven with it thu. ANy bump and it would make contact: front valance and maybe more. The tire outer edge sat right at the front fender edge.

I believe it was BLACKOUT FX4 that has this same size tire with 2-1/2 level kit and he said a 22x9.5 w/ 30 offset will rub bad, but his 18 offset is good. What am I missing. MY 38 offset seams good...thu I would feel more at ease with a 20-25 offset rim. ONce the truck is leveled ( 2-1/2 ) will that tilt the balljoint in closer to the tire???

Thought all this was interresting and would share......Bang head here for not taking pics. ( It was an after thought).

I'm surprised they aren't contacting the balljoint also. Changing the height won't change the position of the balljoint any considerable amount since the knuckle is in the same position relative to the tire.
Did you turn the wheel to full lock? I would expect some rubbing on the frame on lower control arm... Or atleast be VERY close...
I guess the fact that the wheel is 2" wider than stock, and you have an extra 1" of backspacing (roughly), you also stick out an extra 1" on the outside, meaning the center of the wheel is close to stock position. It might just work out okay.

Yes I turned the wheel full lock each way and no contact with anything. THats when I was surprised. Think Im going to go a head and level the truck with 2.5 and then when the other tires come in for the wifes rims.....Ill put them on my truck to try and drive around, one day before I put them on hers ( with out her knowing)

For what it's worth, I would go with a 2" leveling kit. Mine is leveled 2" and sits perfectly level in the wheel wells. Same year FX4. I'm actually considering slightly taller rear blocks so it doesn't sag when I put something in the bed.

Iv been back and forth about 2 vs 2.5 level. THinking 2.5 and do blocks in back to keep 1/2 inch to 1 inch rake.
