Knock from brakes while in reverse?

08 Expedition. Sometimes while backing up and applying the brakes, I hear a thud sounds like it is coming from the driver side front brakes. Is this the pad shifting? Ever hear of this?

I always hear a screeching sound, like my brakes are applied or something.

Now that cant be good. Have you looked into that - I wouldn’t say that is normal.

Now to the original post the pad should not move enough for you to hear it. A possible cause could be a loose caliper. I would check and make sure all the caliper bolts are tight. The change in direction plus braking could cause a loose caliper to make some noise. Just something to look at.
