17 in wheels

Ok guys. I'm farely new....so bare with me. I just leveled out my 04 FX4 and I want the **** cepek dc-1 wheels. Will (17X9 4.53 backspace -12mm offset) these wheels rub if I wrap them in some Toyo 35x12.5 Muds? I also wanted to know the exact lug nut pattern. Any help will be appreciated!!

you should stick with a 33/12.5 and try and find a wheel close to stock back spacing, and your bolt pattern is 6x135

I thought 35's would fit if I leveled out........according to some other threads? I really like the look of the bigger tire. Would you recomend I put 35's on the factory wheels instead?

alot who level their 04 and up trucks run 35s on the stock wheels, or 33s on aftermarket wheels. i believe the stock wheels are 7.5" wide. IMO i think that 35s stock wheels on leveled truck looks good. thats just me

What size are your factory wheels? 17, 18 or 20s? The 17s and 18s are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspace. The 20s are 8.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspace. This means the factory 20s stick out an inch further than the 17s and 18s.

I have seen several leveled trucks on here running 35s with factory wheels with no rubbing. The 17x9s you are asking about with 4.5 inches of BS will stick out 2.5 inches further than the factory 17/18s and 1.5 inches further than 20s, so you will probably have to do some trimming on the outside edges.

Factory 17/18 = 7.5 - 5.5 = 2 inches from hub
Factory 20s = 8.5 - 5.5 = 3 inches from hub
New Wheels = 9.0 - 5.5 = 4.5 inches from hub

You're going to need an 8 inch wide wheel with 5 1/2 inches of backspacing to have a chance to clear those tires up front. That's the wheels I have on my truck now to clear my 315x70x17's, (35x12.5x17).

THe oem 17 and 18 inch wheels are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of bs. A 9 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of bs is gonna stick out 2.5 inches farther than the oem wheels. That is why 35's won't fit using the DC wheels but they will fit (barely) using the oem wheels and a leveling kit.

Hey PawPaw, you think I'd still be able to fit the Toyo muds on a wheel with the same specs as yours?

Yes, I've seen it done already. The extra 1/2" coming out in the front should get you off the upper control arm. The BFG KM 2's are not as wide as the Toyo MT's and would probably give a little more room up front. Just a thought! Look up Off Road Bubba on the Ford Truck World site, he's running the Toyo MT's on 17x8 wheels with 5.5 BS with no rubbing.

Ok, so now I found some AFTERMARKET wheels that I like. It sounds like 35in Toyo Muds won't work on a 17x9 wheel. What backspacing would I need for the 33in Toyo Muds to work.............and also, will they rub?

Toyo makes a 295x70x17 MT that's in between a 33 and a 34 that would work on the 17x9 wheels preferably with a 5" BS. That way you could have the best of both world's!
