Exclamation Want to buy my hubby new wheels and tires. UPDATE!

[/B]Hi, I am going to buy my hubby new wheels and tires for our anniversary, and need some help on what and where. We use our truck daily so we need something really functional but also that looks good. We want to go a little bigger and fatter than stock with a little more rugged tread, but like I said I still want it to be our everyday ride. Oh and of course reasonably prices would be a bonus LOL. Any advice would be great! Thanks

Oops forgot to mention our truck is an 06 4X4 Supercrew 5.4 V8

HEY EVERYONE!!!!!!! IT'S THE MOMENT OF TRUTH! CHECK IT OUT, THE NEW WHEELS AND TIRES ARE ON. THE HUBBY ABOUT PASSED OUT AND NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM THE FREAKING S**T!!!!! LOL LOL LOL I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S HELP AND ADVICE. I FEEL PRETTY GOOD ABOUT MY CHOICES AND THE HUBBY SAYS THEY ARE PERFECT AND EXACTLY THE LOOK HE WAS WANTING. ALL I KNOW IS THAT AFTER HAVING TO LOAD THESE BAD BOYS INTO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK BY MYSELF SO THEY COULD PUT ON AND BE A TOTAL SURPRISE.... SANTA BETTER BE BRINGIN ME DIAMONDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What color truck ?? Know if he is a tried and true chrome kinda guy ? or hates chrome ? usually that one is either HATE or LOVE, ya know ? I am sure you could find out in a fairly "sneaky" way, as to not top him off.

Also, any idea as to what size rim ? A 20" rim might ride rougher, but some think it looks better. Once i know your truck, I am sure it would only take a few minutes to pull up some examples. Personally I like a 17-18" rim. Looks big, and nice, but not too big.

Anyways, if we know the color, and the year of your truck, we all can probably help ya out much better.

Oh, and welcome to the site ! and what a GREAT gift idea !!!

tires i would possibly go with 285s or 305s for a little wider look. look at BFG All Terrains, Nitto terra grapplers, and even what i ordered, Pro Comp is having buy 3 get 1 tire free.
there is ALOT of choices for rims, let some these other guys chime in. hope i helped a bit!

Our truck is an 06 and Silver and I think he would love black wheels, he's been adding black accessories.

Black wheels tend to be the "new chrome" and its what i am running personally.

something like these tires will look real aggressive, but perform great both on and off road:

Here are some of their tires and info:

As for wheels, there are a ton. Here is a good selection of black rims:
These are the ones I am running:

also really like these:

here they all are:

I think a little silver and mostly black would go real well with a truck that is silver. His windows tinted ?
If thats a little too aggressive, let me know.

my truck is a "dark grey" but might give ya an idea:

Oh I really like those 8023 wheels. So if I like those I want to pick an 18 inch wheel? and put what size tires on it? And I dont need to do anything to my truck for them to fit do I? LOL I'm so outta my league here.

Look up the kmc rockstars or anything by kmc wheels. They are high quality and make some of the best looking wheels out there. For tires maybe look at the nitto terra grapplers. Here is a pic of my truck with 20 inch rockstars.

I am not an expert but if you get a 2" or 2.5" leveling kit (not too expensive) it will look REALLY good with some black 18's and the BFG AT's in a 305/65R18. It is not a cheap wheel & tire combo, but would make it a totally different truck and since its a 2006 your probably going to keep it for a while right?

a leveling kit raises the front 2-3 inches to level it out with the back

you can get them on ebay for about $70 shipped

autospring is the company i would look at

ok theres a new wheel i have not seen anybody run that would probly look sick on your husbands truck.
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...1118&rc=TNWINT

and for tires. i would recommend an All-terrain.

i have bfg at/ko there really good, but their not actually 12.5" wide which is my only complaint.

pro comp xtreme AT are nice i have heard (i believe they have a 40K warranty on them)
toyo's are nice tires as well.

stay away from nitto terra grapplers their crap

what makes you say that, i had the nitto Tg's on my truck for 8 k and they still looked new, pretty mean looking A/T, quiet on the road. they re pretty reasonable price wise

Nitto = toyo btw
