Want to buy my hubby new wheels and tires.
ok so I think I'm almost ready to go for it LOL. I really like the look of IDNC's truck, but my question is does a body lift mess with the ride of the truck? This is our everyday driver and I dont want it to become rough riding? Thanks guys!
correct... a body lift will only give you clearance for larger tires.....but since you have an 06, it seems as though the newer BS is a major PITA to install..... so you would be looking at money for a shop to install if your or your hubby didnt want to install it.
i have been trying to get a solid answer on why they are so much harder on the new BS, but nobody can seem to answer exactly "why".
body lifts in general arent hard, just time consuming.... so im wondering still why these trucks are different !!!

I have to disagree about the Nitto TG's...I think they are one of the most aggressive looking AT's and they ride like the stockers! (I think 90% of the guys on here are looking for this) For your situation, I would start with a leveling kit, 18's, and the 305/65r18 BFG AT's. Truck will look 10 times more aggressive, will still drive almost like stock and you dont have to pay a ton of extra money for a suspension lift or body lift with install.
the reason why the body lift install is such a PITA on the 04-08's is because all of the body bushings have to be replaced, as well as the body bolts, and the addition of the spacer blocks. the 97-03's retained the stock body bushings with the body lift.
It's hard to find an 18" AT in that size, I'd go with 305x65x18 BFG all terrains which are 34" tires. The 35x12.5's are mostly mud tires.
As a general rule, with a leveling kit on the new 4x4's you can fit 35x12.50's using the oem wheels or 33's with aftermarket wheels. A set of 33x12.50's or 325/60-18's (33x13.00) tires on a set of 18x9 inch wheels will look great with a leveling kit.
Hey everyone I took the plunge and went for it. I bought the TYPE 7005 CAST BLAST - PRO COMP WHEEL 18's and the XTREME ALL TERRAIN - PRO COMP TIRE 305X60RX18! I cant wait to see these! I bought them from National Tire and Wheel, they had the procomp tires buy 3 get one free and if you bought the wheels and tires they also threw in a free 2.5 inch leveling kit SWEET!
I hope my hubby LOVES them. I'm pretty excited myself! LOL I drive the truck more than he does LOL now it will be even worse. Thanks to everyone for all their help and suggestions. I'll post some pics when they're on and let you know if the hubby likes them.
