Are you running factory 18" wheels? Why do you want to downgrade to 17"? Wont sacrafice anything, will probably just gain a little weight, smaller rim with a thicker tire full of pressure I would imagine would have more weight in it.

My truck came with the 17 inch wheels. No big deal. They run just fine. You won't be losing anything when it comes to performance. Depending on your tires, tire size, and overall weight, your mileage may change.
