Not the Same Old Tire Fitment Question

Status: 2004 FX4 running Nitto 'mud grapplers' 35X12.50X18's on stock rims.

Issue: Because I am a jack*ss I ordered Nitto 'Terras' 325X60RX18's which are actually closer to a 13 inch wide tire requiring a minimum of a 9 inch wide rim (the mud grapps require 8.5 and as we know stock is 7.5). Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see the terras fitting on a stock rim being that they are wider.

Question: Assuming I add aftermarket 18 X 9 rims will there be any clearance issues other than rubbing at full lock on control arms as there is now with the mud grapplers on stockers at full lock.

Thanks in advance....I know tire and rim questions get redundant.

35" is the biggest you should fit unless lifted, the 325 shouldn't rub unless at full wheel lock.

Yep....I'm running the mud grappler 35's right now on stock. The Terra grapplers are wider than the 12.50 mud grappers so I suppose my question is more of width issues than height.....truck has 3inch level kit on now. Thanks.

you will rub but you might be able to avoid it.

If you go to a aftermarket wheel then you will rub pretty bad (no way to tell exactly unless you have the offset and backspacing of the wheels you will be using)

what is stock backspacing on the fx4 18 inch? How about aftermarket 18x9 with at least 5.0 of backspacing?

The stock 18 rims have 5.5 inches of backspacing. Some others here will have to answer with the specs needed for aftermarket rims that will work with the 325 wide tires.

Yep, the oem wheels are 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of bs. And yes, a 325mm wide tire is too wide for the oem wheels. If you add a leveling kit you can fit the 325/60-18's easily using a 18x9 inch wheel with 5 inches of bs. That is a pretty common spec for an aftermarket wheel.

Will the 325/60/18's fit using a 18x9 wheel with 4.5" backspacing? i know it will stick out some, just wondering if there will be any other issues?
