Serious problem with brake and gas pedals

I have driven over a million miles in my 40 years of business and have wore out dozens of Vehicles. I have never had this problem before. Three times in the first 1500 miles of my new F150 Crew Cab 4X4 I have applied the brake and pushed the gas pedal at the same time. Nearly had three accidents. I wish I had the adjustable pedals as I think raising the brake pedal higher would solve this problem. I need to get this solved immediatly. Anyone else have this problem and any suggestions on how to fix it.

Is your set too close?? Not on my truck but when I’ve driven other people's cars and not adjusting the seat I’ve had a couple issues like you have explained. With the seat further back its much easier to move your legs so there aren’t any issue with the gas and brake pedal.

BTW the thinner shoes might be a good idea LOL .

After 60 years of driving it will be very hard to adjust my driving habits. I think a 100 percent way solving of this problem would be to raise the brake pedal a couple of inches. Anybody have any ideas on how to do this.

i thought this same thing when i got my 07 f-150. after a couple days of driving it i have no problem with hitting the gas anymore when applying the brake.

you could possibly remove the gas pedal and cut the sides off of it to narrow it down.

"serious problem" ???

I know you can buy pedal extenders. Check out a couple automotive supply websites and you should find them. They just bolt on to the current pedal to bring it further toward the driver.

Buy a smaller aftermarket brake peddle rubber and trim the metal underneath your stock brake peddle rubber to fit it. You end up with a smaller brake peddle and it will give you more clearance between the brake and the gas so you are not standing on both anymore.

Thanks for the help. I think I will try the Pedal extenders. That should stop the problem quick and easy.
