18" Stock Backspacing

Ok tire guy told me that they had 52 offset which using a tire calc comes out to 6.3 BS. If I use 5.5 offset it comes out to 33. ???

Confused here??? offset gives you 33 for what?
FWIW, I measured the distance from the wheel mounting flange surface to the back edge of the wheel, on my extra set of 18" Lariat wheels. It measures 6". I'll assume the 5.5" is actually the distance to the back edge of the bead vs the back edge of the wheel casting. Is that how backspacing is figured?
