i'm no guru on gears, but i think you'd feel a lot better with 4.88s and 40s. If you were running 37s 4.56s would probably be alright. shoot, they might be okay with 40s, but i think you'd be a lot happier with 4.88s if your going with 40" tires. they'll take more strain off your tranny than the 4.56s will probably, and you'll have no problem pushin those big **** tires around.

i'm not sure about the RPMs but, when you go with bigger tires and you regear i think its best to get it back around the stock RPM range. so i'm guessing if you could get it to around 2k to 2.5k at 70 mph that'd be good. but i could be totally off with that? some of the other guys on here should be able to help you better with that though

Cashel just put 38s on, and he said he was rubbing and would have to trim some stuff, so 40s will fit..but its gonna rub
yeah I had to trim the plastic valence and even then, I still rub on that little nub on the lower control arms, so I'm thinking of hacking that off to.

do you have any flexing room with the 38s or is it pretty tight? if you have a torch it works REALLLY good for cutting off the nub on the control arm(I love using a torch) but I`m sure you could cut it off with about any metal cutting tool or maybe even a hacksaw

I'm not sure but it is pretty tight. I'm not thrashing this thing at all till I get gears (which should be very soon, just found a guy that'll do it for cheap as a favor).

Yeah I haven't really thought about HOW I'm going to cut it lol. I mean I used a sawzaw to trim the front of the frame for the body lift, so I assumed I could use that for the lower control arm, but I'm really not too sure.

oh yea a sawzall will definately work just fine you will want a metal cutting blade for it
List of tools to fix anything
Torch
Sawzall with all kinds of blades
BIG Sledge hammer
WD-40
Duct Tape

I dont blame you taking it easy till you get gears in it, that will be the next big mod on my truck

I think he said he was running 4.56s

But I got lucky on installing gears

The guy who put my lift on
said he has some 4.56s and 4.88s laying around he will sell to me for freakin cheap and he said it would cost me $150 to install the rear gears and $250 for the front so thats not bad of a price at all!

I heard people on hear saying that its gonna cost them 1000-1200 bucks for gears installed!

im definitely not gonna tell you that they wont fit.

but i think you would be much happier with 38's you wont have much to any flex room.

thats the problem im going though with my 36's and 3" body lift. they fit fine for street driving but offroad if you hit any bump with good speed i can hear them eating the wheel well.

also another thing that truck you posted has some other mod done to the rear (add-a-leaf) or (new leaf packs) thats definitely not the rear lift setup from BDS.

And the 40's might fit for him but it doesnt look like he hits the dirt very often. I might be wrong though.

But what do i know i hydrolocked my motor take a look

I'm planning on running 4.88. Lol I have no torque or acceleration right now. I mean I do have some, I just haven't really pushed the truck to see how much I really have.

Ha shoot yea I bet not! But still you got 38s and a big *** truck so for right now you dont really have to be Ricky Bobby and haul butt in your truck!

But when you get some new gears its gonna feel like stock!

Oh btw in the thread you posted when you said you werent sure what they are gonna have to do to your suspension to get to the front gears.

The guy that installed mine said he has to dismantle some of the front suspension thats why its goin to be $250 install for the front and $150 for the back.

RPM = (mph x gear ratio x 336) divided by (tire diameter)

So at like 60your rpms would be in the neighborhood of 2459.52 with 40's and 4.88s.
