i did a **** ton of research because I just had to do the brakes on my 05 fx4. Go for carquest blues, or wagner thermo quiets. i spent a grand total of $280 for my brake change (when the dealership wanted $680 for their sh1tty brakes and only one rotor): 2 new carquest rear rotors, resurface both front rotors, wagner thermo quiet brakes all around, and brake cleaner.

the brakes were $90 for all 4 wheels and are supposed to last 2-3 times longer than the oem pads. and to add to that, they are very low dust compared to OEM. so, i say wagner thermo quiets. i found them at the local carquest, and also at a mom and pop parts store.

i'm sure you should be able to get your rotors re-surfaced, but if you want new ones, rotors were $70 each for the back and $75 each for the front, and on the carquest rotors, the center and outer edge are powder coated black, and look great!

rotor pros makes good and cheap rotors and can be drilled and slotted and still cheap and also helps breaking alot

You can't go wrong with Wagner ThermoQuiets or CarQuest Bles, either one. I have had the Wagners for 61,000 miles and they are not half gone yet. Never a sound. If I were you, and the rotors are not in bad shape, I would just clean them an put on the new pads. I have never experienced a problem doing this and I have done it many, many times on lots of different vehicles.

I do not ever want ceramics. I prefer the high quality semi-metallic. Google Wagner ThermoQuiets, I think you will find several sources.

If I towed a lot, then I might want ceramics for less heat build up. But, it is my belief that ceramics are harder on rotors and eat them up faster.

try calling a couple of mom-and-pop parts stores near you, i know the one I took my rotors to also carried the Wagner Pads. might be worth the time to not pay shipping if your on a budget!
