Rough steering related to tires???

I know this is a wheel forum, but I figured it might be the best place to get some help with a steering issue. I'm curious if anyone has ever noticed a roughness in their steering wheel. I have an 06 Lariat. Very often, when I rotate the steering wheel at sigificant speeds, I feel a minor vibration / roughness / rubbing. I'm not sure what it is; I've never felt it before with any of my other vehicles. I had a dealer check it out and they couldn't help me, but it was obvious the technician wasn't very experienced. A few weeks ago, I started noticing that the sensation is more prevelant when driving on rougher asphalt, i.e. I almost don't feel it at all on brand new, smooth black asphalt.

Anybody have suggestions?
