Is a tire..

what makes tires different, besides who makes them? i mean seriously... im lookin for some 305/35/24's and im seein some big price gaps from site to site..in other words will a nankang, hankook, or kuhmo lose its tread any faster than a Bfg, nitto or cooper tire? i named those for comparison purposes only!

Different tire companies use different types of rubber compound, so tires are softer or harder. Harder will last longer but will suffer for performance.

Toyo is one of the hardest if not the hardest compound tire in the A/T-M/T catagory!

TOYO, BFG, Nitto, Cooper are all great brands as well as Hanook, Kuhmo. I have no clue on NANAKANG.

When you are looking for tires it helps for you to tell us what the intended use for the tire is along with the tread type (street type tread, All terrain AT, or Mud Terrain MT)

Another thing to watch for BIAS PLY tires are VERY VERY soft these are used alot in extreme offroading "do to there stickyness" These tires will not get crap for mileage but will get you though the muk!

Hope that helps

Ok that makes it easier you will just need to look for a stree/sport tire.

I just looked at TIRERACK.COM and found a few... They are expensive to say the least.

For the price difference id go with the KUMHO ECSTA STX They are on sale for $274 a piece.

SIDE NOTE: I DO NOT KNOW LOW PROFILE STREET TIRES AS WELL AS M/T'S OR A/T'S.

If it was me buying for the first time id buy the BFG's for the expensive price just because i trust BFG. However the BFG G-FORCE T/A KDW2 says "ulra high performance"

those bfg's are sky high lol, 600 on one site and 400 on another..but i think my choice will either be the kumho or hankook. i like the tread design...and i want something thats reliable, and can be found at most tire places

I've found that tire's are one of the things that you usually get what you pay for. In most cases a cheap tire is just that, cheap. Also, remember, tires are always a compromise. No one tire is going to perform like a drag radial at the drag strip, last 70,000 miles, corner like an Indy car slick and never hydroplane. You need to decide what features in a tire are most important to you and then decide on a tire.
In your case, I'd suggest looking at the Falken STZ/04. I am very happy with mine.

what about cooper zeon ltz's? says theyre all terrain and look agressive..and i DO work at a shipyard where we park on rocks, and we know what that turns to when it gets wet..so i think im lookin for an all weather, street preformance, all or multi terrain tire.. is there a tire that fits that?

The Cooper LTZ's are getting good reviews from members here who have them. They are an all terrian tire however and since you want 24's, it sounds like you want a street tire.

Street Performance will last a bit longer and probably rid a bit smoother. A good A/T will last for a good amount of time handle respectably in mild-medium offroad situations. Between these its more of a call of looks do you want an agressive look or a low pro hi class look.

If you look into A/T's id suggest Nitto Terra Grapplers, They are less agressive then BFG TA KO's and perform well in most any situation your truck should be put in.

BFG TA KO's are the best A/T around period! but for what you are going for it might look better with a less aggressive A/T. However if you decide BFG TA KO's (if they even make that size) you can expect 60k miles out of them, if you keep them properly inflated and rotated!
