Trailer towing electric brake question.

I have a 2000 f 150 and bought a controller that plugs in under the dash. this controller works on a 2004 f 150 that I had, but on the 2000 no lights no action no nothing. I checked the fuses and all is well. Any thoughts?

Trailer towing electric brake question.

It had a hitch and wiring from the factory. If a relay is missing, can this be added or is a rewire necessary? If so, would it plug into an existing socket?

Thanks for the help.

Is your trailer connected? On mine, if the trailer is not connected I have no lights on my controler.

Wiring harness since 1997 are standard to be able to include all factory options, so you will just need to install a relay if all fuses are already installed.
Yes the relay will plug into an existing socket.
No more wiring or re-wiring should need to be done.

Relays go inder the hood in the power distribution box. If you don't have your manual you can download one here. Make sure all the tow fuses are in place and good also. Start looking on page 177 or 178.
