Help!! $800 bucks & no wheels

So far I'm out 800 bucks on a set of 17x8 Ultra Thunder wheels OEM size for my truck. I like the look but cant get them balanced. Tried Dyna Beads with no luck. Called Ultra and they say never had any problems with that wheel on an 07. Have taken them to 6 diff places and 3 wouldnt even touch them. Ultra said take them to a custom wheel shop with a Road Force balancer so off I went and they spent 3 hrs trying to put weights every where they could to get a balance. Every time the caliper or the bottom joint would rub or rip them off. They documented this for me on my receipt. What do you guys suggest I do next??? Hate to put my stockers back on but I cant use my truck if I dont.

this was an issue with the 97-03 trucks people would buy 16" wheels that were same as stock and they wouldnt clear. The rim is measured by bead diameter, not inside clearance.

you really need to get atleast 18" wheel to be 100% sure it will clear with weights

Got that figured out now. Expensive mistake. Problem is they list these wheels to fit AND told me they would on the phone. If my 07 takes 18's & up they shouldnt list 17's as a fit. The buyer shouldn't have to play a guessing game with any product or part to fit his vehicle.

well its not that you cant fit a 17" aftermarket wheel, you just have to get one that fits for sure. you can fit any 18" wheel and up, and fit some or most 17" wheels

You're right 17's will fit which is why I guess they list they will. They just wont work. Unless you like the feel of a vibrator in your hand.

What kind of tires are you running?

I have never had a problem balancing ultra wheels.

If it's not that much weight.. you might be able to static balance them with clip ons.

Magensium powder> dynabeads imo too

Tires are new and were fine on the stockers.

Tried static & no go.

Dyna beads helped some.

Sold me wrong size.

Flat and using ultra thin flexible weights.

Put my stockers back on this morning. Truck is running smooth as silk again. If I ever buy wheels again it won't be online. My Thunders are for sale cheap.

Has anyone here used OEM size 17 aftermarket wheels on their truck?? If so what brands have you used that will actually work and not just fit. I mean you can put them on the truck and can be balanced. Looking for the blacked out look.

I noticed in 1 of your pics of the wheels that the caliper is super close to wheel. That was the problem I had in trying to get a balance. How did you get yours balanced??
