bad vibration. please help.

I just put a set of Used Moto Metal 951s with 305/50/r20 nitto terra grapplers on, and instantaneously after leaving my shop I had a bad vibration between 0-5mph. The wheels are positive offset (flush with wheel well). I am using McGard 14x2.0 lugs. We can't seem to get it solved. Kinda think the lugs are to short, but they were on a 2004 crew cab 4x4 lariat before I put them on. Same lugs and everything. There is some runout on the front two tires, but usually runout is felt at 40 mph or higher. I can answer any questions you guys have. I need as much help as possible. Need to remedy this fast, so I don't warp the crap out of my rotors!!!!!!

The 2004 F150 had a recall/TSB for vibration, brake shutter etc.

The fix was to replace rotors, brake calipers, pads, and the steering rack.

Maybe you didn't notice it before but since changing the tires it obviously reared it ugly head.

If the recall/TSB has been done, then the wheels need to be balance again.

maybe?

bad vibration

Ya, I just had rotors and pads put on the front at 25k now I have 37k. I was running a set of the exact same wheels but in a -12 offset before winter and had no problem. they were 18 inch with 285-60-18 terra grappler tires. I can understand a rebalance, but I only notice it at 5 mph or less, and balance vibrations are usually at cruising speed.

If you were using mud tires I'd swear it was just the tire's lugs hitting the pavement.

are 14x2.0 lugs the right length. Has anyone else had low speed vibration issues with 20 inch nitto terra grapplers.

I had mine replaced at about 25k under the TSB and at 71k it's back and has been back since about 40k. I can only assume all they did was turn the rotors and told me they did everything else. It is VERY annoying when stopping. I'm thinking of going with 4 new rotors and pads. Any thoughts? I can say if you are still having trouble maybe they did the same for you as they did me to "fix" the problem under the TSB. I think Ford just put some real crappy or undersized rotors on the 04's

I can see what they replaced, send me your vin number.

I did this recall for my brother inlaw, I replaced everything. 20k later same crap was happening, replace the rotor again problem sloved. not sure for how long, so you maybe right Ford used some "crappy or undersized rotors"

Are the tires "cupped" or "flatspotted" at all? Cupping happens when you have bad shocks or a crappy balance. Your tire hops down the road as it turns and you get uneven wear called cupping. Sometimes you can't tell by looking you have to drag your hand around the tire and you can feel it. A flatspot is from hammering on the brakes and making a (surprise, surprise) flatspot on the tire and again sometimes they can not be seen but felt especially at the low speed you are talking about.
